A Note To Trolls'

Do not troll on the discussion pages, as this will not be tolerated any more than on the articles themselves. If you continue to delete content senselessly, we will block you! (see the note to trolls on Stated Values for a more humorous warning ^_^)

Love,
Fiona

PS: Trolling is acting on level one of the tribal scale. You are attempting to sever ties of a growing tribe for amusement. So please no trolling.

  • 'Don't give up, guys'; the idiots with no lives will leave eventually. It may take a few days, but if we continue to edit, this page will reach stability.

[edit] Unprotect the page? (and other suggestions for the page)

I propose that we now unprotect the page to those who are registered, as long as they are aware to keep it in the general format it is now. Or could an administrator please at this navigation box to the bottom of the page: {{Values}}. Thanks. - Jake what is this? I put the template on the page Jake, thank you for letting me know! -- Fiona

I don't really see why the page cannot be edited by all registered users. Just the fact that registration is required will stop most trolls. - Linusje 11:52, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Unprotect the page, but in secret. The trolls will never know! Locking the page defeats the purpose of having a wiki in first place.

  • We can always simply roll the pages back? If we make sure all the wiki admins have an eye on all the pages I'm sure we could open it up a bit?

[edit] Discussion

Hey guys its me cowmaster5000. What i believe is that if the people of the world that have nothing, actually wait, lets start out small, lets say we see some old person that has no where to go we should be giving, and lift that person up, by encouragement enlightment, and giving. We should realize that there are people less fortinuate than us and give. like at my school we are doing this thing called hearts for Haiti where we bring a pair of shoes for someone in Haiti. We have about 270 people in my middle school, and we have brought about 400 pairs of shoes, We all need some encouragement sometimes, sometimes we have nowhere to go, those are the times when we should ask for help, and that is the time we should get it, like in Haiti. Today in the mail i got a letter in the mail that gave me free adress tab thingies to put on the top of a letter when i mail something. It said support our troops on it, so i wrote a 307 word letter to some hut i didn't know to thank him, and give him comfort in Iraq, or wherever he is. i believe we need to give hope those who have lost everything and i believe we need to give hugs, not drugs.

beaul29:when i think of thinking big i always think of a long time imagining the final outcome or the big picture. though most other people i know think of supersizing the current state of being. in this case, witch is right if not both?

User:sethalicous:This is going to take a while to settle in with evryone, but for now lets just try the format and see how it works out. I think as a first order of buisness we need a cause to help out, maybe a charity event or something similar. But lets make it a cause that barly anyone knows about because those are the people who need this much atention right? anyway just a thought and be sure to leave your idea of a probable cause.

Fiona, the ElfLady: @Disembodied, Dan did not merge it on purpose to avoid trolling and general confusion. I'll see if there's a logical way of un-formatting it a tad. :)

Disembodied: Is it just me or does this page seem to be a little bit overformatted to you? I think a simple bullet-point list with each part linked would do. Or even to merge the articles altogether.

Pogobat: We need to utilize the "discussion" tab for pages rather than trying to have discussions on the pages themselves.

ElfLady: Edit: Wow I'm stupid FallenAngel, ^_^ must be the sleep deprivation getting to me. :D Oh my, I'm getting the feeling that I'm going to be spending a bit of my time on this thing. *is slightly hyperresponsible*

edit: haha its ok :P we've all done it from time to time... i can't decide what to do, edit my profile or watch the "stated values" page grow lol--Fallen Angel talk 01:21, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

ElfLady: I'm going back and re-adding Dan's original stuff that got deleted early on by spammers. (I faced that conundrum as well, FallenAngel, but the outcome was reached quite quickly, as I'm rather altruistic. ^_^)

THeNightsEnd: I keep adding my own comments and 3 times now they've all been taken down :P I guess people dont like my opinion

Bassetts1899: Hey guys :) I'm getting the feeling this page will take a looong time to settle down... but I'm gonna stay online for a bit and watch it and hopefully help try and keep it fairly stable :)

ElfLady: I'm sorry TheNightsEnd! Twas not me! Agreed Bassetts1899, and thank you!

haha.. Katy love the username :D sweets ftw!!! --Fallen Angel talk 01:40, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Bassetts1899: I've had this username for like a year and you're the first person to get it... THANK YOU <3

ElfLady: Really? No one got that Bassetts is the sweets company? Lame!!! Bassetts are the best! Love wine gums... *back onto topic* Someone locked the article! That means less spam! Yay! Edit: GARRRR!!!! Why do people feel the need to sporadically and unreasonably delete things??? There are no apparent reasons!

Bassetts1899: Can we have mods to ban users who spam, if we don't have already? I mean, letting everyone contribute is awesome, but some people don't want to contribute but they just want to spam and annoy...

Tommadness: Sadly, Bassetts, I don't think that'll do much of a difference, as ban-evasion on a wiki is rather easy.

Bassetts1899: Well at least then only the dedicated trolls would get through... might filter out the people who are just bored and looking for something to do.

ElfLady: *Sigh* That's too bad Tommadness. I suppose we have to wait for the spammers to get bored. *sits down with a book to wait*

Draemora: Should I add the "Take pride in what we know, and seek to know more" value to the list?

Tommadness: There is no need to ask permission. Feel free to add anything you wish to the list, as long as it can't be considered "trolling" (i.e.: No "hate" comments, don't delete the page, et cetera.)

ElfLady: What Tommadness (is your name Tom by chance?) said! I was trying to add all of the original values, but people kept deleting them...

Spinach: What's the point in working on this if countless people are going to come in here and fuck up everything?

Tommadness My, however did you guess? =P For the record, I don't even remember when the "madness" was added on to my name. I've just been using this username since I could type.

ADDITION: Any mod, please go through and IP ban some of these trolls. Who knows, it might keep some of them at bay. (Also, I didn't realize the logo for the wiki was a moon until this very moment. =P)

Fiona, the ElfLady: :D I'm just clever Tom. :D Mine used to be PurplePuppetHead, after the TMBG song. Now it's ElfLady64 or ElfLady. @Spinach I've given up, but I am archiving every unique piece of info, to add all together and then add when the spamming stops. Edit: Yes, what Tom said, please mods, pleeeease I BEG OF YOU!!!!!! *breaks down* I CAN'T TAKE THE TROLLING!!!!! *falls over*

Bassetts1899: Agreed... we either need more mods or the mods we do have should be a tad stricter. We don't need spammers and trolls.

TomTheNinja: Is there any way to flag a user (troll)? I was thinking it might help the moderators out.

Fiona, the ElfLady: Good idea other Tom! (the ninja one, not the madness one) I don't think there is, but if we find out who the mods are, we can message them directly, or email Dan.

Tommadness: Oh dear. That could get confusing. I'll be known as Tomm, then.

Trying to make a template {{Edit}} to put at the top... its the yellow thing that says "NOTE: Please do erase somebody's input completely. This is not for Trolling"... any ideas what else i can write ?... might make one for dans original template to put up at the top of the page too. --Fallen Angel talk 02:26, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Draemora: Yeah, instead of putting "do" put "don't" I think it was a typo.

well spotted haha, my bad --Fallen Angel talk 02:34, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Draemora: No problem ^^.

Also made {{Fleshout}} for the text "Please use this wiki page and all subsequent pages to flesh out what our PogoTribe's shared values are. The most important questions to consider are "What needs to be changed?" and "What needs to be here that isn't?"" --Fallen Angel talk 02:38, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Fiona, the ElfLady: Thanks for that FallenAngel! (btw, where did you get your personality profile! I want one!

Got it here --Fallen Angel talk 02:43, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

<math>Insert formula here</math>

Fiona, the ElfLady: Thanks! I'm taking it now! Phew, thank goodness the trolling is slowing down now! I'm working on getting all of the deleted ideas together, so that I can put up the ones taken down by the trolls.

It's picked up again. ;_;

The amount of trolling going on is just ridiculous! Is there anyway to make it so the ideas can be filtered? Every time i refresh the page it gets worse

Fiona, the ElfLady: All we can do is wait, really. :( Unless there are any mods here? *looks around* Nope, I can't see any... Is the person who put up there email here?

Spinach "If you could send your new messages to jayry55@gmail.com please do so and tell me which section you want it in. It would greatly help when sorting through tolls." Didn't Dan say we were free to add anything we want? Why are we forced to e-mail someone if we want a new section added to this page?

Draemora: Check the recent copy, under strengths in numbers it says "my dick is big and humble".

TomTheNinja: Could they make it so that only registered members could edit this page? That way the trolls couldn't just swing by and mess everything up. They'd actually have to take the time to register.

Fiona, the ElfLady: I don't think that he means to force us, but he is attempting to make the process less chaotic. I have emailed him though.

SDseminerdG: There has to be some better way of organizing things. Some people just don't seem to be taking things seriously when they get on this wiki. Dan quit school to dedicate himself to this project. We can't fail him.

Fiona, the ElfLady: I think that the trolls will move on eventually. Haha, I don't think that Dan would hold some people's idiocy against us. ^_^ I'm off to bed everyone! It's been a pleasure, a bit stressful, but a pleasure! Be back tomorrow lovies! <3

Sleep well Fiona.. maybe it will be less spammy when you wake up tomorrow lol --Fallen Angel talk 04:00, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Draemora: I'm going to take the "Take pride in what we know and seek to know more" related topics and form them into a really neat piece of information during the next few days. You can e-mail me your suggestions at gjscore@hotmail.com

HeidiDDee: Just a thought, but using Google Wave for something like this might be appropriate. It's really, really, really, uber good for collaboration. Only downer is that you need invites for it because it's still in beta, but that could further help filter out trolls if you have to put up a request in the forum to get an invite to join until Wave's public release.

Pogobat: Thanks for your help! Seriously, you're awesome. Trolls are to be expected-- this'll probably be a zoo for a while. I went ahead and made the main "Stated Values" page editable by admins only and the subsequent values pages editable by registered users only. Hopefully that'll help.

ALSO: I'm making a lot of you admins right now. That should also help control the troll population.

always willing to help :D --Fallen Angel talk 04:16, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

penguinpalsrkewl:Thank you Dan for making it easier to control them trolls! It's night time, after dinner, nothing for the trolls to do be trollin around until the go nappy.

SDseminerdG: Great idea. Limiting editing to only trustworthy admins. It's much better organized. Of course the first day was tough, but the PogoTribe survives! The super secret project continues on.

Spinach: So new values to be proposed go in the 'Notices' section? Could this be mentioned somewhere that this is where you put them? Or if I'm wrong could this be clarified on?

Fiona, the ElfLady: I couldn't sleep so I'm back! :D Thank you for your amazingness Dan!!! What you are doing is awesome, and I'm always happy to help out awesome things and people in anyway! ^_^ <3 Good job today everybody! We did well, we did well.

Also, as Spinach asked, where should the general population add their proposed values? Should they just find a suitable value to put it into as a sub-value of sorts?

Linusje 16:32, 7 February 2010 (UTC) : @Fiona, the ElfLady: at the Forums, I'd say. Or, we could just create a separate wiki page for proposed stated values.

Fiona, the ElfLady: @Linusje, I suppose, though I feel like that's kind of defeating the purpose of the wiki... or not... I don't know...

why hello. im very much new to this. sorry if i do this wrong..=p but i think maybe we should put different discussion pages for different discussions..that is..if that hasn't already been done.

Anyways someone put this on the values template page. I put an edited version on the "reach out to others" page, but I'm not quite sure what to do with it:
"I donno how to work this so imma just type. Okay, so there's nothing in here on undersanding others or trying to understand others and their differences. I know this is what it's all about but it is never really stated, and if it is its not stated clearly, so I think there sould be a value in some shape or form as such : Try to learn how to understand everyone form their POV. OR just something like it. Thanks!"

Hey, im back :D hows everything going ?.. *reads everything to catch up* --Fallen Angel talk 20:01, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Basic Stated Values

These were the basic stated values that Dan put on the page before they got deleted

1. Use our awesomeness for good.

2. Embrace our "inner weird".

3. Have fun.

4. Think impossibly big.

5. Grow out.

6. Grow strong.

7. Stand by what we know to be true.

8. Accept that we don't know everything.

9. Welcome ALL who stand by these values.

--Fallen Angel talk 03:47, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Fiona, the ElfLady: Thanks FallenAngel, I've been meaning to do that...

penguinpalsrkewl: someone on the bottom said"i wanted to add something like "teach in order to learn"". Dan, would you be able to add this value to the page?

TomTheNinja: Should there be a provision for keeping an open mind?

starkiez: What about: The universal law, where no-one should force anyone to do anything they don't want. Except when their actions are breaking the law. I know it's a negative thing and it looks like Dan want's to stay away from that, but should it be mentioned? :)

Click3tyClick: Well, I'd like to share my view on the values, altough I doubt this is the right place to do it. I'd like you to correct me if I'm wrong and help me understand more about out stated values, because I've been chewing on this for a few days and I still don't feel like I understand it completely.

I think that the seventh value, "Use our awesome to bring out the awesome in others" is a sort of a 'common' value. What I mean is that, in theory, it should be shared as a value by every tribe, as it, in my opinion, is one of the main key points in advancing from stage 3 to 4 (and according to Dan most tribes are on a stage 3 level). I say this because the difference between stages 3 and 4 is that while the stage 3 individual acknowledges his awesome, he regards others as not awesome; but the stage 4 individual regards both himself and the others around him as awesome. One thing that can be seen here is that most people at least identify themselves as awesome. If they used their awesome to bring out the awesome in others and began regarding those others as also awesome, it would lead towards a stage 4 tribe. And, in my opinion, advancing in stage should be one of the main goals for every tribe. That's why I think it could be seen as some sort of a 'common' value.

I also think that the first value, "Entertain ourselves through entertaining others", is extremely important, not only for the value of entertainment. I think it is great because it represents a concept of helping yourself by helping others, or 'doing good to yourself by doing good to others'. This shows, I think, that helping others is good for yourself. This, in theory, will lead people towards helping, even if it is for their own good. I think this value, while being about the concept of entertainment, represents an idea which is very important to any healthy society (like the one we'd like to be): entertaining is good, helping is good. I should help. I should help others.

The second value, "Embrace our “inner weird”" would have to be one of my favourites. We live in an extremely standardized society, in which being different or unconventional is often a negative thing. By bringing out our inner weird, we fight back that feeling of standardization. If we act different, we'll be different. How many times did you want to do or say something, but you couldn't, because the people around you regard it as 'shameful'? As long as it's a positive thing, why shouldn't we do what we feel like? I bet those people around you who regard your attitudes as inapropriate have a burning desire to do the exact same thing, but they can't. And why? Because everyone says it's wrong. Even in most of that everyone believes it's right. There are billions of people in the world. If they all do the same, if we all do the same, who am I? Another frowning face in a colorless crowd? I want to be a shining light in that colorless crowd. And as a light source, I want to illuminate the people around me. I want to make them embrace their 'inner weird' too. I want to make a change.

I think that the sixth value, "Take pride in what we know and seek to know more" is, while very important, very hard to achieve today. I know what I'm about to say sounds horribly narcissistic, but I'm a pretty intelligent person. When I went to school, I always had pretty good grades for nearly no effort. However, my personality was a bit different. I regarded those people who study all the time as 'nerds' and often despised them. Instead of hanging out with people who shared my values, I started to hang out with more 'normal' people; people whose grades were just good enough, people who despised studying and regarded knowledge as useless. When I realized I was hurting myself seriously by thinking like them, I began behaving like I should have behaved from the start. However, and unfortunately too, most people today aren't like me, they are like those 'friends' of mine. Unnecessary knowledge is unnecessary, they study just enough for their exams and forget it as soon and it becomes unnecessary. And that's what makes this value so important if we do want to make a change.

So, I'm sorry for such a huge wall of text, but I had to voice my opinions. Once again, I ask you to correct anything that you think is wrong, as this represents only my opinion and my understanding of our stated values.

[edit] Thank you Dan

Thank you for blocking it so that people who are not registered can't tamper with it :)

are we no longer allowed to edit? i wanted to add something like "teach in order to learn" or something but no edit tab i can see... do i have to sign up to edit maybe?

Tommadness: You have to register an account to edit now, I believe. Also, feel free to add on to the page, just try not to subtract. Remember: "What needs to be changed?" and "What needs to be here that isn't?" (Also, I think that would fall under the category of "Use our 'awesome' to bring out the 'awesome' in others.")

  • Dan, or whoever is correcting the trolling: Please make sure to keep your copy up-to-date. I've made a couple edits multiple times, but they were reverted because of an out-of-date copy. Thanks for helping out though! I appreciate not having to look at troll writing! I am glad someone appreciates my work. I am sorry for deleting some of your messages but most were repeats. Please help me out. Every time I try to post something it is too late somebody posts a new response.

INTERGALACTIC COLONIZATION!

At the time we have only thearetical colonized the moon, and at the moment i assume we don't have the technology to colonize the moon. But when we do we will be ready because of this.

Things we need to do to colonize the moon:

1. Bring the atmosphere level, up 2. Somehow we will need GRAVITY

And that is all that i can think of at the moment 'faster earth colonize' I have looked many times tocheck this. With the vast amount of people in our tribe we can buy a piece of land.Once we have have done this our elected leader (Dan)can sign papers from the current government owning the land, and make it our own. After this we can make what ever laws we want (everyone must beable to solve a rubick's cube), and then take over the world (evil laughter)no we will be nice for now.
