This page needs to be shortened and brought to a conclusion

"Embrace our and everyone's 'inner weird'" is one of the proposed stated values of our PogoTribe. Please use this wiki page to flesh out what exactly this means to us. The end goal is to have a 2-3 paragraph summary of each of our stated values.

With the best intentions and a bit of luck our inner weird can be the thing that changes the world. - Jack Saunders (thewackman)

It is only through unique, varying, and "out of the box" ideas and perspectives that any new innovations, concepts, or movements come about.

Here, in this tribe, weird is not only encouraged but supported as well.

Embracing Weirdness

To the extent that you try, all your ideas are good ones. Inner weird is your deepest imagination, that world inside your head that's bursting at the seams. It is what you want to say or do, but right now you probably dont in fear of rejection or alienation. ALWAYS remember that in the PogoTribe your inner weird is awesome because it came from you, and you are awesome. If the idea itself doesn't work, it will perhaps enable others to come up with one that does. Everything helps! as long as it really comes from within you. It doesn't matter how weird it seems to other people, as long as it seems right to you. Just be "unironically enthusiastic" about things, as John Green said.

It's impossible to do something for someone other than yourself because empathy is a word which expresses an abstract construct. Thus, don't act normal because you think you're doing it for someone else. Throw the concept away and don't act like a normal person, because in truth there's no such thing as a "normal" person; just people who are "average". The Pogotribe is not average, we are awesome and seek to use the awesomeness of our own and everyone else's inner weird to pull those that are just average up to the heights we know and know they can reach.

To someone it might seem what we do, say, or how we act, is 'Weird'. Though to us, it's normal. Yes, we might do things that are weird, even to us, though it might not really be weird. It could just be the idea of 'That is weird.' that everyone around you has planted in your mind. So in conclusion, 'Weird' is just a word to label what people think isn't normal to them.

Stopping the Flow of Weird: Advertisers

Here is an idea that goes one step deeper than just being "weird". What motivates us (the world) to be in cliques and groups is basically media. The television is the main source of media. Think about it. Do you choose what clothes you wear each day? Most people would say yes, but think deeper. There is some big-boss-man deciding what clothes are "in" and which are "out." The clothes that are "in" are distributed throughout stores around the world. So you don't choose from an infinite number of possibilities. You only choose from a a few thousand. Now that you have that wrapped around your head, think about this. What is your dream man or woman? Most likely, whatever you are thinking right now, the media put that into your head by commercials and whatnot. So, to make a long story short, the media controls our lives in ways we haven't imagined. It is so hard to think for yourself nowadays when everyone else in the world is fighting to keep you the same. This is a very interesting concept, and it goes deeper than just being "weird." So if we can be more aware of these things, then it would be much easier to express ourselves as individuals, therefore embracing our inner weirdness, making PogoTribe all the more awesome! - Turboman

There is yet ANOTHER point to this. Advertisers use three things called logos, ethos, and pathos to persuade you to their product. You can get deeper into the subject with this site:[1].

Being yourself

Your inner weird is what you actually want, your ideas and your dreams. In essense, inner weird , means our real self that we may fear people will reject, if we reveal them.

Inner weird makes us who we are, it defines us as a person. It is important to let this inner weird become your outer weird. Be yourself aswell as a confident and fearless individual. Share these ideas with the world! If you support yourself, not only the way you are now but the way you want to be, you will be happy. However inner weird is the most powerful of our values and therefore most feared. To be able to share these inner values takes a high amount of courage, don't fear releasing it!

If you never show your inner weird and simply try to conform, you will lose yourself. Never forget who you are. If you're afraid to a friend because you think he/she may not like you anymore, ask yourself: are they a friend? If you're different than some people, it is neither good nor bad; you're just you! Do something with your inner weird by expressing yourself. 'Inner' is what you keep inside your mind to think, or to act, and even create with in your own universe. Possibly your 'inner weird' is right in front of people, and they don't even know, maybe as a painting, music, or poetry, and many more ways that you can imagine. Do anything that will help you express who you are, and your inner weird! (especially dance!)

Don't be afraid to submit your ideas, because even if they suck they can spark really good ones. This is extremely important for a few reasons. As already stated, they can be a spring board. Your ideas have the potential to be just as good as anyone elses, from Dan Brown to Martin Luther King Jr. But probably the most important is that it's good practice. Formulating something for submission and discussing what you think is important is by far the best way to turn you into a garden of good ideas. --- Tulae

Embrace Other People's "Weird"

Accepting yourself is one thing. Accepting others is a very big other thing. The weirdness of some might bring the “crazy” idea, and the weirdness of others might bring the initiative or the power of moving the people …so we need as much weirdness as possible! Weirdness is unique! We need it to support and complement each other and to be prepared for this awesome, great assignment we have that is changing the world. - Rocío. We as a tribe cannot help the world until we accept the world and embrace the ridiculous amounts of weird that one planet can hold.

What is it acheving, when someone mocks someone for who they are? The people who gossip about others, always say it so that the person cant hear them. This is dumb because:

  1. it dosn't make you feel happier
  2. It doesn't change who you are.
  3. Most of the time the person you say it about dosnt care what you think.

So if we could all accept the person for who they are, not how they dress you mite find that they are a truly great person - samantha

If you enable yourself to be happy and have fun this way, you should enable others to do the same. Encourage others to live their lives with excellence, both on the internet and in real life. Don't judge their ideas on how weird they seem, but instead think about it before you reply. Not holding others back increases the awesomeness of the PogoTribe.

To sum up

So why not take a shot and show your inner weird to the world? Then this happens: You are happy! And happiness is contagious. The people around you start feeling better, you may make them laugh, you may look like a trustworthy and open person to share feelings with because you now are! You may just become a comfortable, nice companion for them because you make them feel like you’re open to know and accept all kinds of personalities…because when you open yourself, you invite others to open their hearts to you. This will lead others into embracing their inner weird to become happier! And you can help then achieve the feeling of happiness by showing them that everyone’s inner weird is awesome!
